  Pastor Steve and Debbie
We welcome our new Pastor, Steve Guilmain, and his wife, Debbie.
We are truly blessed to have them both sharing their faith journey with us at Phillips.
Steve, a life-long native of Rhode
Island, grew up in the Edgewood
section of Cranston.  He is a
graduate of Cranston High School
East.

After high school, Steve served
several years in both the R.I. Air
National Guard and U.S. Naval Reserves.  During these years, he completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees.  In 2003, he graduated from Rhode Island College with a BA in Political Science.
From there, he went on to attend seminary at both Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Andover Newton Theological School, graduating in 2007.  His emphasis of study was Worship, Theology and the Arts.
While at seminary, Steve had the privilege of serving a one year internship under the direction of Reverend Dr. Donald Anderson at the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

Upon completion of seminary, Steve was called to pastor Allendale Baptist Church in North Providence.  He was honored to begin his ministry there, following many notable and historic pastors.
He was ordained in that community of faith on April 19, 2009.   Steve served that congregation from June 1, 2007 until July 10, 2011.  At that time, he accepted a call to pastor our church.

As a pastor within the American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island, he has had the opportunity to serve on two denominational boards.
He has served on both the Standing Committee on Ordained Ministry and The Rhode Island Baptist Education Society.

In his free time, Steve passionately follows all of the local sports teams.  Additionally, he and his wife, Debbie, also enjoy long journeys on their Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

"Thank You!"

Over the past few hours I've been running around the house preparing for my trip to Missouri, where I will be presiding at my brother-in-law's wedding.  As I've hustled about, convincing myself that I'm going to forget something essential to my trip, I've also been reflecting upon the last nine months at PMBC.  As many of you know, Deb and I have experienced a whirlwind of experiences and emotions over this period of time.  We've purchased a new home, been accepted and embraced by a new church family, and are currently awaiting the arrival of our newest family member.  All of this has occurred in what has seemed like a blink of an eye.  Nevertheless, as I reflect upon all of this, I am reminded that I have received a lot of help along the way that has made my transition to Phillips a joyful one.  Therefore, I would like to thank you all for assisting me.

From my very first day, I've received support from the staff, all the members of our boards, and all the members of PMBC.  I truly thank God for you all and feel absolutely blessed to have the opportunity to worship with you and fellowship with you.  You have proven to be more than welcoming; you have also been loving and accepting.  Further, you have been patient and kind and again, I say Thanks!

With all of that said, I have to get back to forgetting things and improperly packing my bags for my trip.  Thanks again for all of your support and enthusiasm.  If we continue to rely on God as our source of strength and direction, I believe that we will grow in more than numbers, we will grow in Christ and that is the very best thing!

Peace,
Steve

"Alive and Well!"

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all the members and guests of PMBC a wonderful Easter Season as we pause once again and remember the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Throughout the generations, many have tried to disprove, discount, disallow, and discourage the continued recognition of Christ's resurrection from the dead, yet we, as diciples in Christ's name, know that the tomb is still empty!  While there may be those who will never believe, we realize that faith in our risen Savior is what gives us strength for today, as well as bright hope for tomorrow.

With the advent of spring and all the new life that emerges along with it, it seems that now is an appropriate time to reflect on the new life that we as followers have received through Jesus' sacrifice on our behalf.  It is when we truly reflect upon God's initiative in our lives, that we will be able to genuinely celebrate this season of new birth.

I want to encourage you all to join us as we celebrate God's love and grace during this season.  At PMBC, we offer a number of Holy Week worship opportunities.
