The Reverend Wesley A. Smith began his pastoral ministry at Phillips Church in October 1998. He received his B.A. in Biblical Studies and Social Science from Barrington College, Barrington, Rhode Island, in 1973, where he was inducted into Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, Massachusetts, in 1976. He has also has taken post-graduate studies at Trinity Seminary, Indiana with a focus on
not-for-profit administration.
A native of Burnt Hills, New York, Rev. Smith was ordained June 20, 1976, at Burnt Hills Baptist Church. He has served churches in Averill Park and Saratoga Springs, New York, Westerly, Rhode Island, and First Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He has served a total of 13 years on the Board of Mission of ABCORI and is active in the Cranston Clergy Association. He recently served as President of the Board of Directors of South Providence Neighborhood Ministries, a Neighborhood Action Program of ABCUSA.
